I don’t want to be what I’m not.

I don’t want to have the things I haven’t got.

I don’t want to say things I don’t mean.

I don’t want for things to be the way they may sometimes seem.

You don’t want to pay too much attention

To the stupid things I say and do;

All I really want when all’s said and done,

Is just to be with you.

Sometimes I get to thinking that maybe I’m quite smart.

You take one long look at me and tear that theory apart.

Sometimes I’ve got all the angles and I can see round the curves,

and you just get right up my nose and I just get on your nerves.

Ok, sometimes I’m irritating and I can see how that hurts.

but if you put the bits back together we’ve got something that works.

When I take myself too seriously and things start to look grim

and I’m thinking that its all over before it even starts to begin.

When I’m thinking, I’m sinking and when I feel I might drown,

you just send me spinning sideways and I end up, upside down.

Sometimes I know I can make you smile,

Sometimes I can make you laugh.

Sometimes I think that I’m quick witted
